During this evening workshop you will learn how to produce a ring using the sand casting method. A special material - Delft Clay- is used to create the mold, encased in a two-part round, metal frame. Your silver is melted and poured into the sand mold (the sand can be reused for future projects). This cold molding process is a fast and easy way to get a metal model from a rigid material such as metal, wax, wood, or plastic. Once you’ve learned the technique you can cast small items in your own studio, such as a small charm, ring or element.
This workshop is open to all levels of metalsmithing and will be limited to 7 people. A wait list will be created in case someone has to drop out. There will be a kit available for purchase that includes silver casting grain and Delft sand. See the sign up page for more details.
